Dr. Mintesinot Jiru and student Britney Chase presented a paper entitled “Urban Survival: a community-based model for Environmental and Nutritional Security” on the Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities 2009 Conference that was held at Widener University in Pennsylvania from October 11 - 13, 2009.
Dr. Mintesinot Jiru and students (Zainab Boone-Kukoyi, Shenia Turner, Moswen Maxwell), presented a paper entitled “Coal plantations: Impact on ecosystem sustainability and human health” on the Second Faculty Annual Research Conference.
February 27 - March 2, over 12,000 students and faculty from around the world convened a Power shift '09 conference at the D.C. Convention Center demanding the President and Congress rebuild the economy by passing bold, just climate and energy policy that prioritizes renewable energy and green jobs.
This was a conference filled with most energetic and committed individuals. Coppin took part in this historic gathering by sending its students and faculty.
Drs. Jiru and Uddin coordinated Coppin's participation on the conference.
